Rooted in Him

As you have therefore received Christ, [even] Jesus the Lord, [so] walk (regulate your lives and conduct yourselves) in union with and conformity to Him. Have the roots [of your being] firmly and deeply planted [in Him, fixed and founded in Him], being continually built up in Him, becoming increasingly more confirmed and established in the faith, just as you were taught, and abounding and overflowing in it with thanksgiving (Colossians 2:6-7 Amplified) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17) The Father wants us to live and be empowered by our relationship with Jesus. As new creatures in Christ, our past has been removed. We are a new species, a person that never existed before. The person dominated by fear, weakness, poverty, lack, sickness, depression, inferiority, addictions, co-dependency, and pride has been buried with Christ. Old things have passed away. You’re no longer the defeated, sick, weak, poor, miserable, angry, fear ruled person! All things have become new. All things. Just as a tree is nourished by water absorbed by its roots, we are empowered by the roots of our being drawing nourishment from Jesus through His Word and through spiritual fellowship with Him in prayer! We have within us as Christians the very power of God! His nature has been deposited within us. It’s making changes in us from the inside out. The nature of the Father within is wrapping itself into the very fabric of who we are. That Divine nature is urging our minds, emotions, wills, and bodies to conform to the image of His dear Son! His nature is pulling us away from worldliness, pride, and self-centeredness, and is drawing us into a lifestyle of love and faith. Take time every day to give His Nature within you right of way by spending time in the Word and in prayer. If you’ll commit to it every day, then this time next year, you won’t even recognize the person you were before. You’ll be living from the vantage point of the New Creation that you really are. And you’ll be secure in Christ!
