A Big Family

As believers, we are members of a very large family. For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named (Ephesians 3:14-15).

According to the scriptures, what affects one member affects each other member. That there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually (1 Corinthians 12:25-27).

It was awesome to see the family of God here at Victory and from other churches reach out to Keith and Milly and minister strength to them on Tuesday. God has called us to support one another, care for one another, and to pray for one another.

Let me remind us all again that any action, attitude, thought, or deed that in any way harms or denigrates the character of another believer has as its motivation the flesh, and perhaps the demons hordes of hell. Satan knows that unity breeds God’s power, and that disunity breeds weakness and spiritual inability.

The flesh perhaps aided by the enemy of our souls is behind all slander, backbiting, and gossip, and behind any attempt to undermine legitimate spiritual authority in the local church and in the body of Christ at large.

Refuse to allow the enemy to use your flesh, your mind, or your mouth as a tool to hinder the work of the Father and of Jesus through the Holy Spirit in the body of Christ. Be an agent of the Father’s love and blessing to those around you today.

God can use the care shown on Tuesday to the Bolicks as a catalyst to even greater power and unity in the family of God. Let’s allow it to happen! Let’s yield ourselves fully to the love that the Father has placed in our hearts by His Spirit.

  1. Pastor, that is in line with the scripture I am meditating on today, which is: You are manifestly an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart. (2 Corinthians 3:3)…
